Changes in appearance:

Her hair is growing so fast. It sticks up everywhere and still is a lovely golden red. Her weight gain seems to have slowed. She’s still got the darling chubby legs and arms. No teeth popping through.

The beach–the air! Peekaboo! Blocks on the floor! Funny noises!

Singing to her, making goofy faces at her. She likes looking at herself in the mirror. When we chomp on her belly, tickling her toes and feet, dancing. Spinning around in circles, ‘ooga boogah’ noises. Mock sneezes. Dancing. Going outside. When we grab her belly/chest and shake gently and make giggle noises. Tongue clicking noises, Running water, Watching the dogs play fetch or fighting, Laughing at herself in the mirror, Fart noises on her feet and tummy, Waking up in the morning to a smiling face, Being faced outwards, Looking at herself in the mirror, Sam’s voice and weird noises, Being whispered to, She still likes being swaddled a night, Loves her paci, Fart noises, the “ZZZ” sound as in Zipper or in me singing “Zippity Do Dah,” Looking out the front door at the rain and at cars passing by, Being around people and being held close, Sitting with me at the piano and listening to me sing and play, Chewing on her hands, Being bounced on the stability ball, Bathtime and warm water, Watching Pax and Ash play, Bicycle legs, Whistling noises (Sam has to do those…I can’t whistle)

Still dislikes air to the face.

She doesn’t like it when Ash howls and she doesn’t like it when I play my cello or guitar loudly (perhaps because it makes the dog howl?) She is slowly starting to get antsy when we do slow airplane with her, She doesn’t like being stationary too long, Being set down when she doesn’t want to be (she prefers to be in our arms or in our laps), Laying on her back when she doesn’t want to be, even for diaper changes, Being parted from her pacifier, Air being blown in her face, Tummy time for more than a few minutes

New Milestones/Developments

Sitting up on her own most of the day. We are working on her holding her bottle while sitting up. She drops it often. We started solid foods with her this week! We started her on bananas, cereal, and sweet potato. I used a baby food maker that my mom had purchased for us when I first found out I was pregnant (Thanks mom–it works GREAT). She babbles a lot and pays attention longer when I talk to her and sing with her. She loves the mirror.

Worries with Milestones/Developments:

As I said, we are working with her on holding her bottle to feed herself while she sits up. Not worried about much else right now!

Sleeping Habits:

We decided to start putting her to bed later (9pm) and she sleeps through the entire night. She wakes around 6 to eat and then again around 730 for the day. She naps a few times during the day.

Eating Habits:

6 ounces every few hours, but planning on dropping it down to 4 ounces as she doesn’t seem to take all of it. She eats pureed sweet potatoes, banana, or cereal after taking a few sips of the bottle. She pays attention fairly well during eating. She seems confused but likes the taste after a bit. I’m excited to keep working with her on it.

Thoughts about the past week:

I’ve had my eyes on an Origami Owl Locket for quite a while. I decided to save some money and make one myself! By going to AC Moore (craft store) and buying all the goods, I created the locket for just under $20.

Daphne took to her first pureed foods well!

We went to the ocean and Daphs just LOVED the ocean air blowing in her face. She’d just randomly start giggling and smiling. I am just SO excited for the days we can play in the water and build sandcastles.

My first Mother’s Day went well. Sam bought me a few new workout tops and the day was spent enjoying the outdoors.
