Changes in Appearance:

Hair is still a light blonde/red. The bald spot on the back of her head is being covered with a thin layer of hair. Her longest hair is below the bald spot at the base of her skull.

Eyes still blue. Haven’t noticed them darkening or lightening in shade.

No teeth, no pinks showing through on her gum. She is drooling a lot, however. Prelude to a tooth?

She feels to have gained weight, and you can tell in her legs. They’re starting to get those cute little thigh rolls. Those little thigh rolls won’t be cute much past her 18th birthday, however.

Fart noises (Noises, mind you, not actual farts…at least I think…)

The “ZZZ” sound as in Zipper or in me singing “Zippity Do Dah”

Looking out the front door at the rain and at cars passing by

Being around people and being held close

Sitting with me at the piano and listening to me sing and play

Chewing on her hands

Being bounced on the stability ball

Being set down when she doesn’t want to be (she prefers to be in our arms or in our laps)

Laying on her back when she doesn’t want to be, even for diaper changes

Being parted from her pacifier

Air being blown in her face

Tummy time for more than a few minutes

New Milestones/Developments

She is doing great with tummy time. She lifts her head up well and the boppy comes in handy for propping her up.

She prefers to be propped up (like on a hip) rather than horizontally laying in our arms.

She grabs onto toys very well and even pulls some to her face sometimes.

She tracks very well with her eyes and is so alert.

She is becoming more vocal. She doesn’t make but a singular squeak when she laughs, but she speaks jibberish a lot throughout the day and will mimic singing/cooing.

Worries with Milestones/Developments:

She has no interest in rolling over.

She still is a tad wobbly when she sits up or is propped up. I think this is caused by her being sleepy or distracted, however.

She really REALLY likes her pacifier. I am wondering if this will become a problem later on to get rid of it.

She really REALLY likes to be held and cuddled. I won’t ever deprive her of it–after all, soon she’ll be too big or independent to want to sit still in my arms! Still, I worry that this will create attachment issues and separation anxiety. This is a topic I need to look into.

Sleeping Habits:

Bedtime at 8pm

Feeding at 12am

Feeding at 6am

Wake up for the day at 8am.

She sleeps in her bassinet butted up against my side of the bed. She sleeps swaddled though sometimes she wiggles free like a little houdini. Throughout the early morning hours, a loud kicking and thumping sound can be heard of her feet hitting the padding below her. She kicks furiously and if her arms are free, she flails them about. She is very active in her bassinet at night!

Eating Habits:

Still breastfeeding. I have the help of a SNS to offer more food for her to gain weight.

No introduction of cereal or any sort of other foods.

She takes a liquid multivitamin +iron.

She eats about every 2 hours.

Thoughts about the past week:

Been a rough week. A lot has been going on emotionally for me concerning Daphne’s eating habits. I had debated giving up breastfeeding and had been putting so much pressure on myself. There are still issues but the problem is getting better.

We bought Daphs a new play-bouncer. She likes it so far! She enjoys all the hanging toys. Daphs isn’t very active with it right now and only plays with toys within her immediate reach (doesn’t really reach out for toys yet).

I had a few appointments last week at the Doctor’s office on base as well as appointments with lactation consultants. I actually enjoy all the appointments for the attention on Daphne. I like knowing that she’s being looked at and that attention is being paid.
