Giggles and Chocolate Chip Cookies.

First, I have to share with you how excited I am that I caught Daphne’s first giggle on camera. No joke. I had noticed she was in an awfully cheery mood, so I whipped out my camera. Thank the Lord for my goofy voices and throwing all pride to the wind in attempting to make Daphs smile.

Skip to 1:10 and 1:25 for giggles.

Sam wanted cookies, so I made cookies. Chocolate chip ones, to be exact.

Back in Colorado, it was a usual occurrence for my oven to be on, my mixer mixing, and my sink full of dirty baking utensils.

I love to bake. I love creating sweet things.

Baking daily gets expensive, unless you are getting reimbursed for it. That’s partly why I haven’t been baking here. It’s not that I don’t want to throw my money into a mixer and bake money-cookies with little coins pressed in the top for effect…but it’s an expensive hobby!

Need a great chocolate chip cookie recipe? Look no further.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp vanilla
3 tbsp milk
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp powder
dash of salt
3 cups chocolate chips

Cream butter.

Add brown sugar.

Mix in eggs, vanilla, and milk.

Sift together flour, soda, and powder. Dash in the salt.

Add the butter mixture to the flour mixture.

Bake at 325 for approx 10 minutes, or 350 for about 8 minutes.

Eat and enjoy!

Ahh…how I love baking.

My spatula is my conducting wand.

My mixer whirring is like a timpani  bubbling up, ready to explode.

The sound of the metal scraping the baking stone is as calming to me as a Mendelssohn dream.

Metal mixing bowls stacked up like Matryoshka dolls…

Flour powder sifting up into the air as it is being poured into the moving mixing bowl.

Peeking into the oven to see if the cookies still are shiny, undone, or are dull, done.

Oh, how I love baking.

I am so excited to teach Daphne to bake. I look forward to having decorating parties with her…gingerbread men, cupcakes, gingerbread houses, cakes….all of it.

Daphne chilled in Sam’s lap while I baked.
